Assignments

Assignments let teachers set tasks, invite students, and review their work with AI assistance. Students complete assignments and get feedback based on your rubrics.

Assignments bring together creation, delivery, and grading in one place. Whether you need a quick quiz or a speaking assessment, the workflow is the same: create, invite, review.

Assignment types

Three types are available in New assignment today:

  • Quiz — HKDSE-aligned quizzes with multiple choice, open response, fill-in-the-blank, matching, and more.

  • Speaking practice — a prompt (with optional reading material) that students answer by recording audio, graded against a rubric.

  • Book report — students report on a book by essay or AI conversation, scored on plot, characters, themes, and reflection.

Create an assignment (teachers only)

Students do not see a New assignment button — only teachers create tasks.

  1. Click Assignments in the sidebar (or Menu → Assignments on mobile).

  2. Click New assignment.

  3. Pick Quiz, Speaking practice, or Book report.

  4. Fill in the details and either Generate with AI or Start from empty.

Review modes

Review mode controls how much AI grading happens before students see their results.

For each assignment you choose how grading works:

  • AI reviews, auto-release — AI grades and releases results automatically.

  • AI drafts, teacher approves — AI drafts feedback; you approve before it's released.

  • Teacher grades — you grade manually, no AI pass.

List view vs deadline view

Switch view mode at the top of the assignments directory:

Day planner — Overdue, then one section per calendar date, then No deadline

Deadline view groups by exact due date (not broad “this week” buckets) — ideal when you are juggling many dates at once.

Scope tabs

Tabs differ by role:

Teachers: All · Mine · Drafts

Students: All · Completed

Sort by recent, title, or due date. Archive an assignment from the row actions menu — it is not a separate filter tab. You can also rename, duplicate, or delete from the same menu.
