Get started with Chat
Chat is Zense AI's built-in assistant — a fine-tuned agent that picks the best model and agent tools for you automatically.

Chat is the AI assistant in the Chat section.
It's fine-tuned for education and can use agent tools — web search, image generation, file reading, YouTube summaries, flashcards, slides, podcasts, and more. Chat automatically chooses the best AI model for whatever you're doing.
You can open Chat from the sidebar, from Home → Quick ask, or from a new-chat button in the conversation history.
Start a conversation
Click Chat in the sidebar (or use Quick ask from Home).
You'll see a time-based greeting — "Ready to study?" for students or "Ready to teach?" for teachers.
Type your question and press Enter, or try a demo pill to pre-fill an example:
Generate image
YouTube video summary
Web search
Crawl a website
Create app (turns on APP mode)
Chat replies in the conversation. Your chat history is saved automatically.
Models
Pick a model from the model selector near the composer:
Zack (default) — auto-routes to the best model for your question; tuned for learning and agent tools.
Other Models — pick a named model from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, xAI, and more.
Some models also show a Reasoning level (None → Max). Higher reasoning can help on hard problems but does not change the flat per-message credit.
See Choosing an AI model.
The model you pick applies to the next messages you send in that conversation.
Edit a question
Sent the wrong wording? Hover your question bubble and click Edit to change the text inline. You can also change attachments and the model before resubmitting — Chat regenerates the answer from your edited question.
Editing is available on normal chat messages (not on structured flows like some assignment starts).
Workspace panel
While chatting, open the side workspace for:
App — preview, edit, deploy, and share an interactive app (when APP mode is on or a chat has a linked app). Direct Chat only — not available in Tutor or assignment chats.
Whiteboard — draw and attach snapshots to your messages.
Source — web references from searches and crawls.
Studio outputs (flashcards, notes, slides, etc.) are saved to your Library — see Agent tools and Save & organize with the Library.
On mobile, switch between Chat and Workspace tabs at the top of the screen.
Resumable streams
If you refresh the page or lose connection while Chat, Image Generate Studio, or Video Generate Studio is still generating, Zense AI resumes the live stream when you return — you pick up where the output left off instead of starting over.
Chat — an in-progress assistant reply continues streaming after refresh.
Image / Video Studio — queued or processing generations reconnect to the same session.
Finished messages and completed studio outputs are always saved to history.
Conversation history
Open the history icon to browse past chats, search by title, and continue any thread. Conversations are grouped by date (Today, Yesterday, etc.).
Tip: Give Chat clear context — subject, grade level, and desired output format — for the best results.
