If your school uses Zense AI, joining links your account to it.

Your school then manages your credits and gives you access to shared tutors, assignments, and classrooms. You'll need an 8-character join code from your teacher or school admin.

Joining during the setup wizard or later from the profile menu both use the same code format.

Roles & access levels

Schools have three access levels. Join codes only create student or teacheradmin is granted later to selected teachers.

RoleHow you get itWhat you can do
StudentStudent join codeChat, Tutors, Assignments, Classroom, Library, and Tools within school limits; complete assigned work
TeacherTeacher join codeEverything students can do, plus create Tutors / Assignments / Classrooms, invite students, and open Students in the sidebar footer
AdminPromoted from a teacher by a school admin (or master admin)Everything teachers can do, plus School Management — rosters, credits, moderation, models, join codes, and billing

There is no separate admin join code. Admins start as teachers (teacher code), then another admin promotes them in School Management → Users.

Use the correct code for your role — a student code cannot make you a teacher, and a teacher code cannot make you a student.

Join with a code

  1. Click your profile picture at the bottom of the sidebar (desktop), or open Menu on mobile.

  2. Click Join school (school icon) at the top of the profile menu.

  3. In the dialog, type the 8-character join code for your role (teacher or student).

  4. Confirm — you'll see a success message once you're connected.

Not sure of your join code? Ask your teacher or school administrator — they can find or regenerate codes in School Management → Profile.

What changes after you join

  • Your credits are managed by your school (see Credits & plans).

  • You gain access to your school's shared tutors, assignments, and classrooms.

  • Teachers can create class resources and monitor students.

  • Admins open School Management from the school block in the profile menu (desktop) or Menu → School Management (mobile).

Individual (non-school) accounts can use Zense AI too — you just manage your own plan and credits.
